Mary Elaine Joyce Lagergren, 89

³Together Again² POLAND ­ Mary Elaine Joyce Lagergren, known as Elaine J. Lagergren, a resident of The Woodlands in Poland, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home of the Valley on Dec. 21, 2012, at the age of 89. Elaine was born April 16, 1923, to Martin Edward Joyce and Mary Elizabeth Healey Joyce (both deceased) in Mahoning County, Youngstown. Elaine attended the Villa Maria and also Notre Dame College in Cleveland. On Oct. 11, 1953, she married the love of her life, Victor John Lagergren Jr. of Joliet, Ill., known as ³Jim,² at St. Agnes Church in Cleveland. They had resided in Boardman, were parishioners of St. Charles Catholic Church, and were married for 47 years until Jim's passing on Dec. 6, 2000. Elaine had one sibling, her brother, Martin John Joyce Sr., who passed away June 23, 2011. He was married to Anne Conaboy, who passed away Jan. 16, 2009. She leaves five nephews, Martin J. Joyce Jr. of Chicago, Michael E. Joyce of Sarasota, Fla., Timothy J. Joyce of Lake Oswega, Ore., John B. Joyce of Mentor and Brian J. Joyce of Noblesville, Ind.; four nieces, Nancy L. Joyce Petrillo of Centerville, Bridget Joyce Montana of Concord, Anne Joyce Chance of Franklin, Tenn. and Mary Kate Joyce Thesing of Cincinnati; 19 great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Patrick M. Joyce, who passed away in July of 1992. Elaine was a teacher in the Boardman grade school in the 60s. She loved the Fellows Riverside Gardens and Mill Creek Park, art and entertainment, traveling around the world, social gathering, clubs, her many friends, neighbors and family. Many who knew Elaine knew her passion for music and dancing. Elaine and Jim would take the floor anywhere that there was music and they would dance the night away. Now Elaine is at peace and dancing with her love and best friend Jim, together again. Family and friends may call at the Fox Funeral Home on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Philip Rogers at St. Charles Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Elaine¹s family would like any memorial donations to be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512 or to Millcreek Park Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44509.
