Dr. Donald Joseph Milley, 69
BOARDMAN There will be a funeral Mass celebrated by the Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church for Donald J. Milley, 69, retired Professor from Youngstown State University, who passed away Monday morning, Dec. 24, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a short illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Buffalo, N.Y. to Sam and Josephine Milley. Don obtained his Economics undergraduate degree and PHD in 1975 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. On July 27, 1974, he married Christine Presnar of New Castle, Pa. The couple made their home in Boardman. Don was a professor of Economics at Youngstown State University until retiring in 2005. During his 42 years as a professor, Don continued to meet and mentor his students. Long after their graduation, his students would comment on his teaching style and how he related economics to the real world, including golf. In his retirement, he spent the last nine winters in Estero, Fla. with his wife and where he continually practiced his golf swing. Don will be especially remembered for his love for his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, his passion for golf, reading, and sports cars; and, his ability to solve crossword puzzles and math problems with his quick wit and intelligence. His friends and family will miss his sense of humor. He leaves his wife, the former Christine Presnar; his daughter, Sara (Daniel) Naughton of Boardman; his brother, Nick (Pat) Milley of Methuen, Mass.; his two grandsons, Ryder Naughton and Logan Naughton; and his nieces and nephews. A family visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a memorial Mass following at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512. The family requests that tributes in Don¹s memory may be made to the Youngstown State University Economics Department Graduate Scholarship.
