William Howard Wylie

William H. (Bill) Wylie, age 83, formally of Canfield, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday May 11, 2017 at his home in Ashburn VA surrounded by his loving children.  Bill was born on July 10, 1933 in Youngstown, OH the son of William and Mildred Wylie.  His beloved wife, Mary Louise, who he married July 5, 1958 passed away in 2000. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown State University.  He retired from US Steel after 33 years of service and was a sales associate with homebuilders Miller & Smith. Bill was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Air Force as an air traffic controller. 

Bill was a devoted father and grandfather.  His memory will be treasured by his son Richard Wylie of Ashburn, VA and his daughter Michelle McGovern, husband Michael of Leesburg VA. He will be remembered always by his grandchildren Michael (Alana) of Philadelphia PA, Patrick of Bloomington, IN, Daniel and Rebecca of Leesburg.

Bill was an ever present example of gratitude, love of life and love of family.  He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him for his sense of humor, wisdom and willingness to help anyone in need.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. John Keehner will be held at St. Christine’s Church 3165 S. Schenley Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44511 on Thursday, May 18 at 10am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s name to Capital Caring Hospice 24419 Millstream Drive Aldie VA 20105.

Arrangements are by the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street in Boardman.
