Dr. A. William Geordan

January 25, 1922 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 95) 95 Years Old


                                

Dr A.William Geordan was born in Youngstown, OH on January 25, 1922.  His parents were Nicholas Basile Geordan and Marie Di Giammo Geordan.  Dr. Geordan passed away on January 6, 2018 in Duluth, Georgia. 

Dr Geordan was a graduate of South High School where he lettered in football and track.  He was also a member of the debate team.  He thoroughly enjoyed South High football and continued his association with the football program when he returned to Youngstown and started his medical career.

After his graduation from South High he was admitted to Miami University of Ohio to their Pre-Med School.  His undergraduate studies at Miami were interrupted by World War II.  Dr Geordan was a member of the United States Naval Reserve and later completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. 

Dr Geordan was then admitted to Loyola University Chicago Medical School.  He was then accepted at Cook County Hospital to their General Surgical Residency Program.  Upon completion of his surgical residency, he took a Fellowship in Urology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.  It was at Cook County Hospital where he met Camilla Cronin DeRosa.  They soon married and enjoyed 63 years together. 

Dr. Geordan and his wife Camilla returned to Youngstown after completing his medical training.  He joined the surgical department of the Youngstown Hospital Association which at that time consisted of South Side and North Side Hospitals.  He became Chief of Urological Surgery.  Dr Geordan was a member of the Board of the Youngstown Hospital Association. 

Dr Geordan was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Marie Geordan and  his spouse Camilla DeRosa Geordan.      

He is survived by his sister, Venetta Cronin of Dallas Texas; his son, Nicholas J. Geordan  and his wife Stacey and their children Kyle, Scott, and Ryan of Parker, CO.; his daughter Deanne Marie Geordan Cheadle and her husband Jerry and their son Nicholas of Duluth, GA.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday January 19, at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman, Ohio, 44512.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday  January 20, at Saint Edward Church celebrated by Rev. MSGR. Robert Siffrin, followed by an Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
