Eleanor E. Kalasky

January 17, 1925 ~ May 10, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old


  Prayers will be 12:30 Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. John Keehner at 1 P.M.at St. Christine Church, Youngstown,  for Eleanor E. Kalasky, 92 of New Middletown formerly of Canfield, who passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon.  Eleanor was born January 17, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph P. & Mary E. Humenick Horvat.  She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School  and Notre Dame College in Cleveland, where she received her degree Cum Laude in Chemistry at the age of 19.   Eleanor started her career as a chemist at Carnegie-Illinois Steel, Co.,  and then was the bookkeeper for the Boardman Rollercade, where her husband James was a co-owner with his brothers.  

She was a  greeter and life long member of St. Christine Church, as well as a member of Catholic Collegiate  Association, Notre Dame College Alumni Association and the American Business Women's Association, Mill Creek Chapter.  An avid reader, Eleanor, also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, feeding birds and looking at pictures of her great grandchildren.   Her husband James C. Kalasky, whom she married June 30, 1945, passed away December 10, 1986.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Suellen  (Rob) Rodi of Driftwood, Texas, sons Atty. James F. Kalasky  of Boardman, Dr. Thomas (Fiancee’ Tricia O’Haron) Kalasky,  D.D.S. of Lordstown,  Atty William G. (Marion) Kalasky of Canfield and Robert (Patty) Kalasky, L.M.T., of Struthers, a sister- in- law Lennie Horvat of Apple Valley, Minn, grandchildren Carolyn Rodi, Christine Walker, Steven Rodi, Matthew Kalasky, Leah Kalasky, Paula Bash, Kara Strubberg, Caitlin Dunnavant, Kelsey Morton and Carleen Kalasky, great grandchildren Owen Bash, Evelyn Bash, Parker Strubberg and James Morton and a cousin Joseph Humenick..  Besides her husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by a brother George Horvat.  Friends may call from 3 to 5 Sunday and from 11:30 to 12:30 Monday at the Fox Funeral Home.  Eleanor’s family wishes to thank the staff at Windsor Estate , Dr. Scott Agnew and the patrons and employees of the Boardman Rollercade, for their love and support.
