George Biro Obituary

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 21 at St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, for George L. Biro, 89, who passed away peacefully at Assumption Village in North Lima Sunday afternoon, May 13, 2018. 

George was born June 17, 1928 in Marblehead, OH, a son of George L. and Mae Eberly Biro.  He married the former Nadine A. Smorgala on August 1, 1953 in Marblehead, and moved to the Youngstown area a year later.  George was a member of St. Charles Church.  He was a graduate of the University of Detroit, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He worked at U.S. Steel as an Industrial Engineer for 33 years, retiring in 1986.  A huge Notre Dame fan, George enjoyed going to many home and away games and was a season ticket holder for 60 years.  He enjoyed being with his family and friends more than anything.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a son Patrick (Norma) Biro of San Diego, CA; three daughters Carol (Paul) Schmidt of Canfield, Christine (Brad) Davis of Stow, and Cathy (Dan) Cunningham of Elyria; ten grandchildren Brian (Kate), Louie (Melissa), Matt (Tina), Kerri, Brett (Bri), Kelli (Mike), Nicole, Tohnia, Jessica, and Francisco; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan (Paul) Lukac of Port Clinton; nieces, nephews and close friends.       

Besides his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife Nadine, who passed away November 19, 2017. 

Friends may call on Monday, May 21 at St. Charles Church from 9 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Graveside services at St. Joseph cemetery in Marblehead, OH will follow at 2:15pm.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Assumption Village Special Care Unit for all their kind, compassionate care during his two year stay there, and also a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Valley.

George’s family wishes to have memorial tributes in his name given to Northern Ohio Chapter Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 8001 Sweet Valley Dr., Suite 3, Valley View, OH  44125..
