A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 11 a.m. Friday August 3, 2018 at St. Charles Church for James A. Bruno, 66 of Boardman, who peacefully passed away Sunday morning with his wife and son by his side.
Born June 20, 1952 in Youngstown, James was the middle of three sons born to Mr. And Mrs. Anthony P. Bruno, all of whom predeceased him. He attended St. Anthony and Immaculate Heart of Mary Schools. He graduated in 1971 from Austintown Fitch High School where he lettered in varsity football and wrestling. James earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University in 1976. Jim was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Kent State University and kept in contact on a regular basis with his college roommates and fraternity brothers, who were lifelong friends.
He was a member of St. Charles Church and was a decades long member of Tippecanoe Country Club. For 31 years, James proudly owned and operated Bruno’s Restaurant and Catering, Inc. in Boardman where many families celebrated weddings, showers, and parties. Jim enjoyed most of all providing food to his son's St. Charles and Mooney classmates and teammates.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Attorney Lynn Sfara Bruno, whom he married June 14, 1986 at St. Christine Church, and his son, Nicholas James Bruno. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St.Boardman. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved in-laws, Patrick E. Sr., and Jean Ricciuti Sfara.
