Prayers will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Christine Church celebrated by Rev.John Keenher, for John “Jack” J. Hennessy, 91, who passed away Friday, July 27, 2018.
Jack was born on September 26, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of John and Grace King Hennessy. A 1944 graduate of Ursuline High School, he also graduated from Youngstown College in 1955. Jack served in the US Navy during WWII and married the former Jacqueline L. Blake on November 25, 1948. Jack worked as an industrial engineer for US Steel and Sharon Steel, retiring in 1991. He was an original parishioner of St. Christine Church, where he was a lector for 35 years. He was a member of the Youngstown Gaelic Club, and very active in the Mill Creek Baseball league.
He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Karen (Bob) Morgan of San Jose, CA and Maureen (Dr. Tom) Pedrick of Columbus; two sons, Bob of Youngstown and Bill (Brianne) of Slippery Rock, PA; eight grandchildren, Carlos (Mallory) Rosario, Devon (Lindsey) Morgan, Dr. Jonathan Pedrick, Shannon (Jason) Comer, Dr. Jason (Dr. Amanda) Pedrick, Megan Hennessy, Molly Hennessy and Mary Kate Hennessy; and great-grandchildren Madeline, Brooks and Charlotte Comer, Rowan Rosario, and Finn Pedrick.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline, who passed away April 1, 2008, and siblings Caroline Howard, Rita McCulloh, Wilma Walsh and Nancy Jupp.
Special thanks to the Staff and Residents of Danbury Senior Living in Columbus, Ohio, where Jack resided and thrived for the past 3 1/2 yrs. You helped make his golden years truly golden!
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, July 30 at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
