A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6 at St. Charles Church for Kathleen (Ceroli) Mecak, who passed away peacefully Oct 3rd with her children at her side in Boardman Ohio.
Born June 21, 1938 in Niles, daughter of Nick and Sayde (Kurnett) Ceroli, Kathleen was an accomplished musician playing piano professionally and charitably throughout the greater Youngstown area as well as she sang with many choirs including the resurrection and bell choirs at St. Charles Church, where she was a longtime member . During her career as music teacher for over 30 years in Youngstown City Schools she directed many noteworthy musical performances and conducted the Gospel choir at Rayen High School.
Most proud of her family and musical accomplishments, in life she also enjoyed, lovely pet cats, participating in the herb guild, cooking, symphony, art, jazz, shopping with her daughter and traveling to California for weeks at a time to be with her son. She obtained a BS degree in music from Youngstown State and obtained a Master of Education from Kent State University. Kathleen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother giving and generous in all aspects of her life with her talents.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, daughter Paula (Christopher) Niarhos of Boardman, son Evan (Amy) Mecak of Markleeville, CA, two grandchildren Nicholas Niarhos and Owen Mecak, and her sister Marianne Harshman of McDonald.
Besides her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Frank, whom she married Aug 21, 1965, and brother Nick Ceroli.
Friends may call from 4 – 6 pm on Friday, October 5 at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
