Robert Thomas Berasi

Robert Thomas Berasi was born August 17, 1952 in Youngstown, Ohio son of Angelo “Shine” and Louise Berasi.

He passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Amy, sons Brian and Nick, daughter Katie, brother Larry Berasi of Canfield, and sister Noreen Musser of New Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Denise Gayko.

Bob attended St. Dominic’s School through 8th. Grade then graduated from Boardman High School in 1970. He attended Hocking Technical College in Nelsonville, Ohio earning a degree in Forestry in 1975.

In 1976, Bob ventured off with his best friends Tim Love and Joe Balmenti to New Mexico, they were later joined by other close friends. They worked various jobs from Angel Fire Ski Resort to Forestry.

Bob traveled to Ohio a few times working with his brother Larry’s bridge construction company. He came to Salmon in 1981 to work with the U.S. Forest Services. His last 17 years were with the Bureau of Land Management and he retired in his 60s.

In 1984, Bob bought a one room cabin in which he began a long journey of remodeling. In 1987, he talked Amy into coming to Idaho and a year later they married in Madison, Ohio. Bob bought a sawmill and cut his own house logs and built many additions to the cabin.

He loved working with wood for every project, small or large. As Bob’s cabin grew, so did the family with Brian in 1991, Nick in 1993 and Katherine in 2000. He loved teaching his children to hunt, ride motorcycles, hike and work hard.

Bob had three simple-sweeter things in life. He loved swinging double barrel shotguns over his dog during bird season, a strong cup of coffee and rolling his own cigarettes.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald M. DeLucia 11:00 a.m. Friday December 27, 2019 at Saint Charles Church, 7345 Westview Dr. Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name can be made to the Salmon Hockey Association at P.O. box 581 Salmon, ID 83467 or to the Salmon Public Library at 300 Main St. Salmon ID 83467.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
