Alden L. "Butch" Irwin, 77 STRUTHERS - There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Edward Noga for Alden L. "Butch" Irwin, 77 , who passed away Monday afternoon at the Cleveland Clinic. Butch was born July 13, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of James and Edna Robinson Irwin and has been a lifelong area resident. He attended South High School and worked as a heavy equipment operator for several East Ohio Gas sub-contractors. He belonged to the Operating Engineer Local #66 for over 35 years. He was a former member of Purple Heart Club and former member of Hammer Heads Car Club and was proud of his 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. He and Jean enjoyed Mahoning Valley Old Car cruising and cruising the river in downtown Lowellville. He will be greatly missed by his wife Evelyn Jean Hardie whom he married on June 9, 1980. He will also be missed by his son Billy (Teresa) Irwin of Boardman; three daughters, Brenda (Edward) Wacht of Campbell, Marilyn (Jay) Fabry of Canfield, Michele (David) Bryarly of Boardman; eight grandchildren; Amy, Melanie, Jennifer, Joey, Franky, Allison, Sydney, Jack and 9 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Fabry and three brothers, Wilbur, Jack and James Irwin. Butch was a 13 year survivor of a heart transplant and his family would like to thank the staff of the Cleveland Clinic Heart Transplant Unit and Austinwoods for the loving care they extended to Butch. Friends may call from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m Thursday at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
