Obituary

Boardman, Ann Mary Murphy,74 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Church for Ann Carney Murphy,74 who went to be with the Lord after a long and tenacious battle with lung cancer on March 23, 2016. She was born January 16, 1942 raised and remained a Youngstown resident her whole life. She attended St. Patrick's Elementary and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School. Upon graduating she worked many years at Ohio Bell. After marring the love of her life, James Murphy Sr., she left Ohio Bell to raise her family. Ann enjoyed many things in life. You could find her on many spring and summer days working in her flower gardens. If she wasn't cultivating her beautiful gardens she was blogging or helping her children fix their computers. She was interested throughout her life in collecting things from dishes to pens. You might catch her any day of the week with a new hat or pair of shoes that mirrored her zest for life and her unique personality. Ann was also an avid reader and remained so until the day she passed away. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Honorable Charles J. and Mary Lucille Carney. She will also be reunited with her beloved daughters who passed before her, Mary Murphy McCarthy and Lucille Murphy as well as her sister Mary Ellen Leshinsky. She is survived by her husband of 50 years James W. Murphy and her children, Shawn (Shannon) Murphy of Austintown, James (Terra) Murphy Jr. of Boardman, two daughters, Cecelia (Matthew) Richard of Woodstock, GA, Peg (Bill) Hittie of Columbus, Charlie Murphy of Poland. She also left her many grandchildren and great grandchild, who she enjoyed watching grow and spending time with, Rhannion Murphy, James Murphy III, McKenzie Leech, Nicole Murphy, Conor Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Gia Murphy, Patrick Murphy Maddy Richard, Sophie Richard, Elizabeth Hittie, Kate Hittie Carney McCartny and her great grandchild Bella DeMarinis. She also leaves her sister-in-law Lynn (Harry) Smith of Colorado and many cherished family and friends. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market, Boardman, OH.
