Bernard F. Wittenauer, 89 BOARDMAN - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Philip Rogers at 11a.m. Saturday at Saint Charles Church, for Bernard F. Wittenauer, 89, who passed away Monday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his family. Bernard was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Hubbard, a son of Bernard F. and Katie Ellen McLoughlin Wittenauer. He graduated from Hubbard High School and has been a life long area resident. During WWII Bernard served his country in the Navy and was a member of the Sea-Bees Construction battalion in the Philippines. After the service he came back to the area and was a well known home builder , constructing many homes in our community and local counties. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Billie Fox, whom he married November 11, 1941; three daughters, Patricia (John) Mc Garrity of Munster,Indiana, Linda Wittenauer of Youngstown, Kimberly (Joseph) Kengor of Canfield;two brothers, Carl Wittenauer of Hubbard and Charles "Vin" Wittenauer of Mount Airy,North Carolina; six grandchildren, Kelly Rodgers, Michael McGarrity, Scott Calfee, Christopher Calfee,Corey Ballantyne, Marianne Ballantyne; three great-grandchildren, Katie Rodgers, Ellie McGarrity, Taylor Calfee. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Bresnahan. The family has asked that any material tributes be given to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust, P.O.Box 14301, Cincinnati,OH 45250 or www.dav.cst.org. Friends may call from 10 a.m.to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church.
