Canfield, Carl F. Boni, 86. Funeral services will be 11 Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Gregory Maturi, O.P., for Carl F. Boni, 86 of Canfield who passed away peacefully Sunday at Hospice House with family by his side. Carl was born March 9, 1929 in Cresson, Penna., a son of Antonio and Helen Schrack Boni. He was a 1947 graduate of Cresson High School. Carl started his career as an insurance agent for John Hancock. He then owned the Ohio Beauty School and for the last 46 years was the president of Ohio Carpet Company in Boardman. An avid sportsman, Carl enjoyed the game of golf, was a long time member of Tippecanoe Country Club and played in several Pro Am golf events , including the Jackie Gleason Inverarry Classic as a team member of golf pro Jack Nicklaus. He will be especially remembered as the sponsor of several highly successful Ohio Carpet Class B and Class AA baseball teams throughout the 1980's and 1990's. Carl was also a huge fan of the sport of horse racing. He was a long standing member of the Wolves Club. Carl will be sadly missed by his wife the former Betty DeLucia, whom he married March 4, 1966, children Mark (Diane) Boni, Robert (Christine) Boni , Kathy (Mario) Irvello all of Florida, Phyllis (Lynn) Galey, Diane (Jim) Escaja all of Boardman and Sandra Eldridge of Columbus., seven grandchildren , seven great grandchildren, a brother William (Alice) Boni of Washington and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his sisters Betty, Louise and Margaret. Friends may call from 4 to 7 Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
