Obituary

Carmela "Corky" Vendetti, 82, passed away in the afternoon of June 11, 2026, after a long struggle with illness.

Corky was born on October 11,1943 in Youngstown, the "middle" daughter of the late Leo and Josephine Briglio Buffone.  She graduated from  Woodrow Wilson High School and worked for 35 years at Hill, Barth, and King as an  "award-winning" statistical typist.  Speed and accuracy were her hallmarks.

Corky was an exceptional dancer and "jitterbug" queen.  She was a regular on "45 Hop", a local teen dance television show.   She collected many victories in dance competitions throughout the Youngstown area.  Corky was a "collector" and loved to shop.  She studied fashion and took great pride in her clothing and her jewelry.  She was proud of her Italian heritage.

She married the love of her life, Richard Vendetti Sr. on May 1, 1965at Saint Luke Church , Corky and Richard started dating in high school.   He was the love of her life, and they traveled the world together, he treated her like a queen.  They were married for over 56 years. Sadly, Richard passed away in 2021.

Corky is survived by her son, Richard D. Vendetti (Marcie) of Austintown and daughter, Carla (Anthony) Santangelo of Boardman.  She leaves her two beloved grandchildren, whom she adored, Sammy and Lola Santangelo.  Corky's sisters were a lifeline to her.  She is survived by Anna (Joe) Rossetti, Linda (Jim) Sutman, and Leona (Mike) Crogan.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Georgia Greenawalt of Petersburg, and many nieces and nephews that Corky greatly admired.

Besides her parents She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Vendetti Sr.  Her sister-in-law, Joann Vendetti-Bunosky is also deceased.

The Vendetti family would like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to the staff members at both Glenellen Assisted Living and St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Family and friends may call on Saturday June 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A private burial will be at Poland Riverside cemetery.

The Vendetti family has requested material tributes to be given to the Golden String Inc. 32 Fifth Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44503.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
