Wilson
Jun 6, 1939 — Nov 5, 2014
Catherine "Cathy" Marie Wilson YOUNGSTOWN - A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church for Catherine Marie Wilson (Murphy), 75, who died peacefully at home the morning of Nov. 5, 2014. Cathy, a Youngstown native, born June 6, 1939, graduated from Ursuline High School in 1957. She married Charles "Ed" Wilson on June 18, 1960, at St. Dominic's Church and she truly enjoyed her life as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Cathy was employed by Ohio Bell, Metropolitan Bank, and, for over a decade, the University of Kentucky. Throughout her life, Cathy loved traveling, going to movies and listening to music, particularly modern country and polkas. Her ever expanding family was her real treasure and it gave her great joy to spend time with loved ones at any and every opportunity. Additionally, she maintained many close friendships and retained membership in a "club" of dear girlfriends from High School that have met monthly for over 50 years. Surviving are brothers John and Robert Murphy; daughters Karen (Greg) Jacobs of Dayton and Linda (Bryan) DeRemer of Charleston, S.C.; son Kevin (Amy) Wilson of Louisville; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Lauren, Brian, Brett, Eric, Nicole, Hannah, and Levi; four great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a long list of beloved friends and extended family. Cathy's warm heart, generous disposition, strong Irish-Catholic faith, and colorful spirit will be missed by so many, and will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; parents, Helen Smith and Joseph Murphy; sister Annie Murphy; and brothers Francis, Joseph Jr., Tom and Marty Murphy. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home on Market Street. Mass will be celebrated by Cathy's first cousin, Reverend Robert Edwards.
