Obituary

Charles Williams Hyde, 62 YOUNGSTOWN- There will be services at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church for Charles Williams Hyde, 62, died at Hospice House on September 19th after a long fight with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born February 17, 1944 in Warren to Charles P. and Edna (Williams) Hyde and lived the last 34 years in Boardman. Charles graduated from Kent State University with BA and MS in Economics. After graduation, he taught at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., before starting a career in the banking industry. He worked at Bank One for eighteen years, starting out as manager of their Poland branch and advanced to Vice President of the budgeting department. He then moved on to National City Bank NE (Dollar Bank) as Vice President and Financial Manger before taking a position with Second National Bank as their Senior Analyst in the commercial loan department. Charles was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman, former Cub Scout leader of Pack 60, active in the Boardman Soccer Association where he served as past president as well as coach. He was also active in Boardman Little League baseball as a coach for several years. Mr. Hyde followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Western Reserve Masonic Lodge and earned his 32nd Degree (ASSR). Charles enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors at his cabin in Crossfork, Pa. His family will remember him best for his unmatchable wit, devotion to his family, dedication to his profession, and his joy of being in the presence of his three grandsons. His genuine interest in people and compassion for them will be sorely missed by all those who were blessed to know him. Survivors include his wife, Doris P. (Pearce) Hyde, whom he married June 17, 1967, two sons, Charles J. (Christina) Hyde of Youngstown, Robert J. (Tonya) Hyde of Boardman, three grandsons, John R. Hyde of Boardman, Skyler E. Hyde of Youngstown, Gavin J. Hyde of Boardman, and a sister, Carol M. Hyde of Crossfork, Pa. His parents preceded him in death. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Fox Funeral Home, Boardman and 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Bristolville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Oh 44512 and Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Dr., Boardman, Oh 44512.
