Obituary

Dr. Charles W. Kirkpatrick, 61 YOUNGSTOWN-- Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman for Dr. Charles W. Kirkpatrick, 61, of Youngstown, who passed away suddenly Friday. Chuck was born September 25, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of Charles W. & Edna Dahman Kirkpatrick, Sr. As a boy, his family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. After the death of his father, the family returned to Youngstown. Chuck graduated from Wilson High School and received a scholarship to English at Case Western Reserve University. He began his professional career as an English instructor at Shaw High School in East Cleveland. He later studied dentistry at Harvard Medical School and was for a time on the faculty at Case Western Reserve before starting a pediatric dental practice in Parkersburg, West Virginia. After retiring from dentistry, Chuck returned to Youngstown and worked in the hotel and communications industries. A very learned and intellectual man, he was interested in literature, science, history and politics. He enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and followed the sport his entire life. He was proud of the achievements and accomplishments of his children and was a true and devoted friend. He leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Dr. Aaron (Heidi) Kirkpatrick of San Antonio, Texas and Meredith Kirkpatrick of Greenville, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Abraham Kirkpatrick and Aliza Kirkpatrick of San Antonio, Texas; his mother of Austintown; two brothers, Ken (Jan) Kirkpatrick of Cleveland and Bob (Joyce) Kirkpatrick of Girard; two sisters, Lynda (Jeff) Barr of Charlotte, North Carolina and Patty (Sean) Durina of Austintown; his former wife and friend, Mary Ellen Kirkpatrick in Kentucky and his dear friend Linda Porter of Youngstown. Friends may call from 11:30 to 1:30 Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
