Obituary

Chester P. Claire, 84 A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Chester P. Claire of Sunrise Assisted Living, Poland at 10 A.M. Monday at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown. Mr. Claire was born on February 6, 1927 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA in 1949, and married his college sweetheart, Hilda Stockhausen, in 1950. After moving to Akron, he played basketball for the Goodyear Wingfoots. The Claires moved to Tallmadge, Ohio in 1961, residing there for the next 51 years. Mr. Claire retired in 1988 from his career as Agency Manager for State Farm Insurance. He was active in the Optimist Club of Akron for 40 years, and in the Sales and Marketing Association of Summit County. He was a founding member of the Westminster College Towering Titan Association, and a past member of the college's Alumni Association. Mr. Claire was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Tallmadge. He will be sadly missed by his wife and children, Eric (Karin) Claire of Hinckley, Melinda (Chris) Knight of Boardman, and Mark (Kathy King) Claire of Anna Maria, Florida. He was a loving grandfather to Sean (Megan) Claire of Atlanta, Lisa Claire of Atlanta, Lindsay Knight of Chicago, Lee (Erika) Knight of Boardman, and Gregory Knight of Boardman. There are no calling hours Burial will be in Tallmadge Cemetery. In memory of Mr. Claire, donations may be made to Westminster College, New Wilmington PA 16172. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Hilda Claire, 221 Overhill Rd., Youngstown 44512. Arrangements are by the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
