Obituary

Clarence E. Martin, 63 YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a funeral service at 4. p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Bob Reese of New Life Church for Clarence E. Martin, 63, who passed away Thursday morning at the Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was born March 15, 1951 in Shinnston, WV a son of the late Elisha and Gladys Poling Martin; he grew up in Grafton, WV and moved to the Youngstown area at the age of 16. He started roofing at the age of sixteen and was self-employed for many years. He was a devoted morning bartender at Styx Bar where he loved spending time with the patrons and he developed a special relationship with many of them. He was an avid NASCAR and Cleveland Browns fan. He loved his summer trips to Geneva on the Lake, where he could build and sit by the best campfire for hours. He loved the local bike runs, especially the Gunda Din Run out of Styx Bar. Left behind to cherish his memory, his wife and the love of his life, Annette M. Popio whom he married on September 21, 2002. He will also be missed by his six sons; Edward Metz Jr. of Iowa Park, TX, Clarence (Dawn) Shaffer of Austintown, Shawn (Azzerde Gasior)Martin of Youngstown, Jamie (Vickie) Neeld of Niles, Franklin (Terri) Montgomery Jr. Of Markleysburg, PA, Jason (Carrie) Montgomery of Austintown; three daughters Susan (Edward) Shaffer-Fisher of Akron, Belinda Shaffer of Youngstown, Dawn (Jason) Gray of Austintown; nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also leaves seven brothers, Clark Martin of Wiley Ford, WV, Charles Martin of Grafton, WV, Clyde Martin of Portsmouth, VA, Joseph Martin of Clarksburg, WV, David Martin of Austintown, Jay Martin of St. George, VA, James Martin of Bridgeport, WV; two sisters, Sue Martin of White Hall, WV and Marie Blake of Masontown, WV. He will also be greatly missed by his best friends Gary and Debra Faber of Canfield and his mother-in-law Lana Popio of Youngstown. Besides his parents Clarence was preceded in death by his son Thomas Martin, his sister Catherine Rosier and brothers Richard, John and Ronald Martin. Clarence's family would like to thank, Hospice of the Valley, Dr. Russell A. Morrison, III, Dr. Joseph J. Gallo and the staff of Midlothian Medical Center for their wonderful Care given to Clarence. To everyone from Styx Bar, our family and friends, your generosity and support will never be forgotten.
