Clement D. Clausen, Sr., 87 SALEM--Clement D. Clausen, Sr., 87, of Salem, formerly of Youngstown. died Monday, November 12, at Northside Medical Center. Clement was born on April 15, 1920 in New Castle, PA, a son of Bemt and Adaline Anderson Clausen. He was an Army veteran of World War II attached to the 501st Parachute Infantry Battalion which was part of the 101st Airborne. He received several medals in the service, including The American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the World War II Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post #93 on South Ave., where he was past commander. He was founder of Clausen Appliance Repair for over fifty years retiring in 1996. He had been in several area bowling leagues and was a member of the 4:30 Social Club and loved to play cards. Clem was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in the Allegheny Mountains. He leaves his wife, the former Margaret McGovern, who were married June 15, 1940 in St. Dominic Church. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage together. He also leaves behind three daughters, Brenda Greasel of Ellsworth, Linda (Fred) Hash of North Jackson, and Peggy (Phil) Merlo of Austintown; three Sons, Terry of Salem, Clement, Jr. (Nancy) of Austintown, and Eric (Shirley) of Youngstown; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Carl (Geanie) of Fairfield, California. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Bemt, Jr., a sister, Virginia and a son-in-law, Joseph Greasel. He will fondly be remembered for his keen sense of humor and story telling and will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Austintown. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
