Daniel Soroka Jr., 86 Daniel's life was full of love as he mentored his children and grandchildren, and the legacy he leaves with all the wonderful doll houses and furniture he made for them. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Christopher Cicero at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Christine Church for Daniel Soroka Jr., 85, who passed away Wednesday morning at his residence surrounded by his family. Daniel was born September 21, 1927 in Youngstown a son of Daniel and Mary Mondiak Soroka Sr. and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Chaney High School and was the owner and Vice President of J&S Aluminum until retiring in 1993. He was a veteran who served his country as a Merchant Marine, in the Army and in the Airforce Reserves. He was a long time member of St. Christine's parish, American Legion Post #15, and Howard Brown Merchant Marines. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years Geri (Meyers) whom he married July 20, 1949. Memories of Dan will be carried on by his five children and their spouses, sons Daniel "Chip" (Tammy) Soroka III of Poland and Robert (Joyce) Soroka of Mentor; daughters, Shelly (Dave) Courtney of Canfield, Geri (Ed) Freeze of Boardman, and Renae (Robert) Strohmeyer of Aurora; a sister Helen Nezbola of Austintown; fourteen grandchildren, Scott (Regina) Freeze, Ned (Micki) Freeze, Jill (Jason) Campbell, Jim (Grace) Freeze, Tara Freeze, D.J. (Amie) Courtney, Jason Courtney, Michelle Courtney, Morgan Soroka, Daniel Soroka, Suzy Soroka, Robert, Bryan and Jaclyn Strohmeyer; and six great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sister Julia Smyczynski and four brothers, William, Michael, Steve, and John Soroka. The family would like to thank the devoted caregivers Susan, Sharon, and Lori, and requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Boardman, 44512 or Dorothy Day House, 620 Belmont Ave,Youngstown 44504. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman or 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Saturday at St. Christine Church.
