Obituary

Reverend Daniel M. Venglarik, 60 BOARDMAN--Daniel Michael Venglarik entered eternal life on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at his home on Westview Drive in Boardman after a courageous life with pancreatic cancer since November, 2006. Father Venglarik was born on April 7, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of Michael J. and Helen (Patrick) Venglarik. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School and Ursuline High School. Father Venglarik studied at Saint Gregory Seminary and Mount Saint Mary of the West Seminary in Cincinnati. He earned a M.A. in Theology from the Athenaeum of Ohio, an M.A. in English Literature from Xavier University, a M. Education from the University of Notre Dame, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 26, 1973 in Saint Columba Cathedral by Bishop James W. Malone. Following ordination, Father Venglarik served on the faculty of Ursuline High School as a teacher and the Associate Principal. In 1985 he was named Principal. While serving as Principal, , he was Pastor of Saint Mary Parish in Mineral Ridge from 1993-1995. On July 15, 1995, Father Venglarik was appointed Pastor of Saint Charles Parish in Boardman. During his ministry, Father Venglarik served on the Priests' Personnel Board, the Priests' Council, the College of Consultors, the Priests' Retirement Board, and the Diocesan Foundation Board. He also founded the Vocation Club at Saint Charles and served as the Facilitator of the Priests' Forum in the Diocese of Youngstown. He is survived by his mother, Helen, of Austintown, his brother James M. (Cecilia) Venglarik of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and his sister, Judith V.(George) Braun of Exton, Pennsylvania, as well as five nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Michael G. Venglarik. Calling hours will be in Saint Charles Church on Sunday, May 6 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M, concluding with Vespers, and on Monday, May 7, from 2:00 to 6:30 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Charles that evening at 7:00 P.M. A private committal service will take place on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Charles Parish, 7345 Westview Dr. Boardman, OH 44512 or Ursuline High School, 750 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
