Poland, Ohio Maj Ret. Delbert Lee Van Gorder, 65 of Poland passed away peacefully at his home Sunday morning with his family by his side. Delbert was born Nov 7, 1950 in Warren, Ohio. He was a graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School and Youngstown State University, where he received a bachelor degree in 1974. Delbert had a twenty-three year career in the Army and received many accommodations and medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Pershing Rifles Fraternity and the Freemasons. Being a very talented man, Delbert excelled in leather and wood working. Delbert was an avid historian, and studied American and military histories. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife the former Judi Weinstock, whom he married August 26, 1972 , a daughter Terri (Eric) Toto, two grandchildren Brooke and Ryan Toto, a sister-in-law Alice Banko, and two brother-in-laws Jack Weinstock and Dan Weinstock. There are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
