She attended South High School, in Pittsburgh. In 1960, she married the late Joseph Calinger Jr. and settled in Monaca, Pa. The couple had three children, all born there, Joe, Holly, and Jason. The family moved to Canfield in 1972. While still in Pittsburgh, she worked for the Carnegie Library System, even working on "book-mobile" buses that traveled throughout the city. Upon her move to Youngstown, she worked for the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. She worked at all 23 library locations, including the Main Library, Canfield, Poland, and the previous Cornersburg Station. She became a neighborhood fixture at the, now closed, Fosterville Station, growing to love her many patrons. She retired from the library system in 2005. She enjoyed traveling throughout North America, visiting Canada, Mexico, Alaska, the Caribbean Islands, California, Las Vegas, Seattle, and New York. She was always so proud of her birthplace, Pittsburgh, Pa. She never missed an opportunity to visit, watching it transform itself from a steel town to America's number one city.
