Dolores M.
Lilko
Aug 15, 1931 — Dec 9, 2014
Dolores M. Lilko, 83 SAINT PAUL, MN - There will be prayers at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home and a resurrection mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christine Church, for Dolores M. Lilko, 83, who passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. Dolores, also known as Grandma Dee Dee, was born August 15,1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of John and Margaret Benish Barko. She was a lifelong area resident until moving to New Philadelphia, OH in 2012, where she lived with her one daughter, then most recently to Saint Paul, MN to live with another daughter. Dolores grew up on the Northside of Youngstown, where she attended St. Edward's grade school. She graduated from Ursuline High School and Youngstown College of Business. Her husband, Robert J. Lilko, whom she married May 3, 1952, died on October 22, 2006 after 54 years of marriage. After her five children were grown, Dolores worked for a number of years at Gluck Insurance. Dolores was a long-time parishioner of St. Christine parish, was a member of the NBN club, and was the founder of Bear Hugs for Seniors, for which she was given the Giraffe Hero award. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Dolores enjoyed numerous activities, including golf, bridge, dancing, club luncheons, going to the theater, and traveling to visit her children. She especially loved the festivities of the holidays, sharing meals and good tidings with friends and family alike. Whatever Dolores did, she had fun doing it, always invoking laughter and light with her generosity of spirit and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Kathleen DiToro of St. Paul, MN, Cheryl A. (David) Games of Pebble Beach, CA, Dr. Mary M. Nipper of New Philadelphia; her two sons Robert J. (Diane) Lilko of Cleveland, James P. Lilko of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren Adriana, Margaret, Rachel and Cate; and three great grandchildren Elise, Annika, and Isaiah. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward Barko. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 19, at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
