DOLORES PATRICIA SULLIVAN, 87 Prayers will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Michael Marcelli at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Dolores P. Sullivan, 87, who died Thursday evening at Hospice House. Dolores graduated magna cum laude from Grove City College, Grove City Pennsylvania, with a B.A. degree in 1945, then taught journalism, American History and English at Sharpesville High School , Sharpesville, PA for eight years. She worked towards an M.A. in comparative Literature at Columbia University, and also pursued graduate studies at the Sorbonne, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Breadloaf School of Writing, Middlebury College, Vermont. She married Stuart Sullivan in 1953 and moved to Youngstown, Ohio, raising a family of seven wonderful children. In 1969 she returned to full time teaching at Boardman High School , teaching journalism and English. In 1973, she received a M.A. degree in journalism from Kent State University. During her twenty-three years at Boardman High School , the school newspaper she advised swept all three of the top national awards (The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the National Scholastic Press Asssociation and Quill and Scroll). She received a gold key from the Columbia University Press Association in 1979 and was also named a Distinguished Advisor by the Newspaper Fund. She also served as vice president of the Columbia Student Press Advisors' Association and President of the Journalism Association of Ohio Schools. In retirement Dolores became a published author when William Holmes McGuffey Schoolmaster to the Nation went into print, published by Associated University Press. Her husband, Stuart died in 1984. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Sylvia Keeley, Ruth and Jean Van Eskay and brother Colonel Edward Stevens. She is survived by her children, Patricia M. (Ron) Rosko of Franklin, OH, Dr. Brian (Karen) Sullivan of Poland, Kevin Sullivan of Boardman, Maureen A. (Franklin) Parsons of Cincinnati, OH, Sheilah (Mike McMillan) Sullivan of Lawrenceville, GA, Kathleen (Scott) Marucci of Poland and Mark (Frances) Sullivan of Gulf Shores , AL. Her grandchildren are Zachary, Erin and Benjamin Parsons, Taylor, Tatum, Katie and Scott Marucci, Sean and Brady Sullivan, Stuart, Lucas and Rebekkha Sullivan. She also leaves her loving caregivers, Barbara and Khadijah. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home.
