Canfield, Edmund A. Massullo, M.D., F.A.C.S., 83 CANFIELD-- Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown for Edmund A. Massullo, M.D., F.A.C.S., 83, who died Thursday morning, Edmund was born September 26, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of Gennaro (Jim) & Elena DeCapita Massullo. He was a graduate of The Rayen School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his medial degree from St. Louis University and a degree in Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery from Georgetown University. Edmond was on staff at St. Elizabeth Health Center for fifty years, where he started the Cardiac Surgical and Intensive Care departments. And was Chief of Surgery for ten years and he performed the first open heart surgery in Youngstown. He also taught at NEOUCOM and wrote several articles for The Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Massullo was a member of Tippecanoe Country Club, the Fellows American College of Surgeons, The American & Mahoning County Medical Societies, the Knights of Columbus and the A.P.A. Pool League. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf and playing pool. He served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force. He leaves his wife, the former Anne Marie Marino , whom he married January 18, 1960; a son, C. Mark Massullo of Chicago, Ill; a daughter Anne Massullo (Michael) Sabella of Canfield; three grandsons, Lorenzo, Andrew & Niccolas. He is preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Mario Massullo.
