Edward T. Higgins, 73 BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Russ Adams at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, for Edward T. Higgins, 73, who passed away Sunday morning. Edward was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of Edward T. and Bernice Higgins. He was a 1955 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown State University. Edward enlisted in the Army and then moved to Washington, D.C. where he was a police officer. Upon moving back to Youngstown, he worked as a route salesman for R.L. Lipton Co. He was a member and shop steward for Teamsters Local No. 377 and belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Edward loved sports and especially playing baseball and basketball. His wife, the former Ruth M. Lewis, whom he married Aug. 24, 1969, passed away Sept. 17, 2004. He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Gene L. (Patricia A.) Wilson of Youngstown; a daughter, Linda M. (John C.) Jackson of Struthers; a sister, Janet (Carl) Sten of Knoxville, Tenn.; a grandson, Braedon; and two nieces, Sharon (Kenneth) Martinko and Family and Carol (Steve) Merritt and Family. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
