Obituary

BOARDMAN - Eileen J. Plichta, 86 Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Kenneth Miller at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church for Eileen J. Plichta, 86, who passed away peacefully Friday morning at her residence. Eileen was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Cleveland, a daughter of John and Margaret McCarthy Stanton. Eileen attended Notre Dame College in Cleveland, worked for the Veterans Administration, married, and eventually moved to the Youngstown area in the mid 60s. She was a homemaker, a member of the church, and the Christian Women's Association. She was a devout Catholic, proud of her Irish heritage, and concerned of raising her family and providing them with advanced educations. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and was known for her great Irish wit and ability to always see the best life had to offer. Her husband Eugene J. Plichta, whom she married Nov. 12, 1949, passed away on Aug. 11, 1990. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Kathy Plichta with whom she made her home, and Margaret (John) Latronico of New Castle, Del.; two sons, Gene Plichta of Centreville, Va., and Jim (Cathy) Plichta of Cincinnati; a sister, Ann Manger of Baltimore; and eight grandchildren, Beth, Ellen, John, Lucy, Joe, Sally, James and Megan. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Atty. John Stanton Plichta; three sisters, Ruth Stanton, Margaret Mary Gannon and Jane Vay; and a brother, John Stanton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. Material Gifts can be made in Eileen's memory to St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, OH 44512.
