Obituary

Elaine was born January 26, 1937, daughter of Gaetano and Lucille Yannacito Garramone in Youngstown, OH.  She was a graduate of South High School class of 1954, and attended Youngstown College, majoring in Accounting. She worked nineteen years for McNicholas Transportation and thirty-seven years for Carney-McNicholas Moving.

She married the love of her life, Frank "Chico" Mancini on June 17, 1961. They had three sons Frank Jr., Dominic, and Joseph. She thanks her husband, family, and friends, who supported her on her journey through life.

She was a member of Boardman Local Schools PTA for sixteen years, where she held many chairmanships and offices.

She was the recipient of a lifetime membership in PTA and named to the Boardman PTA Hall of Fame.

She was elected for two terms as the Boardman Local School Board President. She was the first Woman elected President of the Boardman Civic Association and received this associations Community Service Award in 1996 and their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. She was also the first woman elected to the position of Boardman Township Trustee. She served four terms as Trustee and was Chairman for seven of her years of service.

The most important role she played in life was Wife, Mother and Grandmother.  She was a strong supporter of her family's athletic endeavors, starting with her husband who coached football and refereed basketball for many years. Her sons were wrestlers and went on to coach the sport. Her grandchildren excelled in sports including golf, wrestling, and soccer, and also went on to coach their respective sports.

One of Elaine's favorite things to do was cook for her family. She mostly dedicated her cooking skills to Sunday dinner, holiday traditions, and vacation meals. She took her family on many camping trips across America, and yearly camping trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Elaine loved spending time with her lifetime friends Marie Pupino, Rosetta Vernucci, and Anita Orlando. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, doing yoga, and exercising at the Davis YMCA. She was a dedicated fan of Youngstown State University and spent many of her Saturday's hosting a tailgate for their home football games.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, and brothers Gene and Joe Garramone.

She leaves her husband Frank "Chico", sons Frank Jr. (Lori), Dominic (Pam), Joseph (Amy); grandchildren, Maria, Nick, Anthony, Sophia, Vince, and Anita; sisters Marie Garramone of Poland, OH and sister Joanne (Tom) Halt. of Ft. Myers, FL. She also leaves many Garramone and Mancini relatives.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday February 17th at the Fox Funeral Home. Elaine's family is requesting for the safety and health of Frank "Chico" that everyone maintains social distancing guidelines, and to have no physical contact with the family, thank you.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday February 18, 2022, at St Dominic Church 77 E. Lucius Ave. Youngstown, celebrated by Rev. Vincent DeLucia, where she was a lifetime member.
