Elayne M. Popovec, 86 BOARDMAN - Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. John Keehner, at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church, Youngstown, for Elayne M. Popovec, 86, who passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon. Elayne was born March 29, 1929, in Youngstown. She was a 1947 graduate of South High School and a member of St. Christine Church. Elayne , best known as "Nana," was devoted to her faith, family and home. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting holiday dinners for her children and grandchildren. Elayne spent many years vacationing in Hilton Head Island, S.C., with her husband, Mike. She was best known for her kind heart, classy style and best hair in town. "Elayne was the best mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor that anyone could ask for. She will be forever missed, but her love will carry on in our hearts forever." Elayne leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Michael T. Popovec, whom she married June 7, 1952; three sons, Mickey (Karen) Popovec, Mark (Donna) Popovec and David (fiancAC.e Kelli McDevitt) Popovec; a daughter, Mary Beth Popovec; a son-in-law, Robert Rutkousky; a brother, Richard Holmes; and eight grandchildren, Bo Rutkousky, Kristin (Alex) Amendolea, Samantha Popovec, Mark Popovec, Michael Popovec, Jaclyn Popovec, Michelle Popovec and Allison Popovec. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Holmes; a daughter, Patti Rutkousky; and a brother Raynor Holmes. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
