Elizabeth "Aunt Betty" Abigail Toomey, 88 YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Edward Noga at noon on Saturday at St. Patrick Church for Elizabeth "Aunt Betty" Abigail Toomey, 88, who passed away Wednesday evening in Boardman. Betty was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Cleveland, a daughter of Joseph and Abigail Gilbride Toomey, and was an area resident since childhood. She graduated from South High School with the Class of 1940. She was an Army veteran who served her country in Germany during World War II. Betty was a long time member of St. Patrick's Parish, American Legion and the G.E Retirees group. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Joan D. Nelson of Youngstown; her niece and nephew, whom she helped raise, Thomas Blood and Doris Schuerell; and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her two brothers, James and Thomas Toomey; and her five sisters, Marjorie Danko, Marie Blood, Catherine Howells, Patricia Bouslough and Jane Toomey. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.
