Elizabeth Jane Booth, 90 AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, celebrated by Fr. Edward Noga for Elizabeth Jane Booth, 90, who passed away peacefully on Aug. 18, 2013, at Clare Bridge Senior Living of Austintown. Elizabeth was born in Youngstown on Feb. 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Catherine Mary and Francis Michael Smith. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown. Elizabeth was formerly a member of Saint Patrick's Parish in Youngstown and later a member of Saint Michael's in New Castle, Pa. On July 7, 1945, Elizabeth married the love of her life, Joseph Grant Booth. They were married for 48 years and together they devoted themselves to raising nine children. Elizabeth was employed at Windsor House Nursing Home in Youngstown. Starting out in 1971 as a part-time cook, she eventually became Nutrition Services Coordinator. Elizabeth thoroughly enjoyed her work and career with the Windsor House Company and after more than 30 years of service, she retired at the age of 80. Elizabeth, or Betty as she was known to her friends and family, was an avid reader all her life and always had a book nearby. She was a chocolate lover and took great pleasure in giving, receiving and sharing chocolate with those she loved! Above all else, Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother, who at all times put her family first. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and hosted family dinners every Sunday for all her children and grandkids. She gave unselfishly of herself and her family will forever treasure the love, devotion and support she gave to each of them throughout her life. Her husband, Joseph, preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1993. Also preceding her in death are a brother, Thomas Francis; her three sisters, Mary Broll, Patricia Jones and Jean Burke; her granddaughter, Melissa Booth; and her grandson, Tommy Booth. She was also preceded in death by a step grandson, Dylan Crump. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Karen (Edward) Fitzpatrick of Poland, Joseph (Kris) Booth of McDonald, Daniel (Carol) Booth of Youngstown, Donna (Skip) Papa of Waterford, Pa., Thomas (Stacey) Booth of Volant, Pa., William (Melissa) Booth of Poland, Mark (Cynthia) Booth of Lauderdale by the Sea, Fla., Jean (Doug) Ferrante of Dacula, Ga. and Richard (fiance Mary Crump) Booth of Youngstown. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Eddie Fitzpatrick, Brad Fitzpatrick, Joe (Missy) Booth, Ricky Booth, Neale (Amanda) Booth, Elizabeth Papa, Jason (Julianne) Papa, Kevin Papa, Kaity Booth, PJ Booth, Cortny Booth, Spencer Booth, Vincent Booth, Jake Booth, Isabella Booth, Natasha Ferrante, Ashley (Jacob) Mullinax and Alex Ferrente and also step grandson, Ed Crump. "Great-grandma" will always be in the hearts of her great-grandchildren, Michael Fitzpatrick, Tara (Joe) Ragozine, Joey Booth, Ryan Booth, Anna Booth, Olivia Booth and Neveah Booth and her great-great-granddaughter, Kayleigh. "Elizabeth's family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at Clare Bridge of Austintown for the compassionate care they provided. A special thanks also to Crossroads Hospice of Northeast Ohio for helping us through a most difficult time." Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
