BOARDMAN – FRANCES M. GRANITO, 93

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael church, 300 North Broad Street, Canfield, celebrated by Father Terrence Hazel and with Father David DeMarco, for Frances M. Granito, 93, who passed away on Friday at her home in Boardman. Frances was born March 5, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of Liberato and Rose Pecchio Detesco.She graduated from The Rayen School in 1942. She was Vice-President of her class, was on the debate team and Editor of the school newspaper. She would go on to organize many class reunions. She also attended Youngstown College. Frances was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Dominic's Parish and St. Michael's. She was member of Tippecanoe Country Club and their Women's Association. She was active in the Stambaugh Pillars She was a licensed cosmetologist, and worked at Firestone in Akron and Youngstown Regional Airport while she was married to Raymond V. Reedy. They were married on September 17, 1949. He passed away at the age of 42 on March 29, 1964. They were married 15 years. Frances married Dr. Charles Granito on August 17, 1972, who passed away December 10, 1994. They were married 22 years. Frances is survived by her daughter Mille Reedy of Boardman and a son Raymond (Karen) Reedy of Canfield; three granddaughters Dawn ( Michael ) Strete, Lisa and Tara Reedy; four great-grandchildren Addison and Brady Strete and Reed and Jeffrey Wilson. Her sister Alyce DeMarco resides in Pittsburgh. Frances was preceded in death by brothers Daniel and Dr. Andrew A. Detesco and sisters Mille Carlson and Anne Carlson. Frances will be sadly missed by the family she so loved and cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Frances' name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Family and friends may call at St. Michael church an hour prior to Mass, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
