Frank R. Hovanec, 97 YOUNGSTOWN - There were private services held yesterday at Fox Funeral Home celebrated by Fr. Martin Celuch for Frank R. Hovanec, 97 who passed away Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boardman. Frank was born January 28, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Mary Stana Hovanec and has been a lifelong area resident. Frank has been a long time parishioner of St. Mathias (Our Lady of Sorrows) Parish. He drove bus throughout the Mahoning County for a company currently known as WRTA for 42 years until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Bus Driver's local union. He will be greatly missed by his wife Ann Paluga whom he married on June 22, 1940 and just celebrated their 75th wedding Anniversary. He also leaves his two sons, Richard (Elaine) Hovanec Sr. of Canfield, Denny (Ethney) Hovanec of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Dorothy Buranich of Sun City, AZ; three grandsons, Richard (Karen) Hovanec Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Michael (Lisa) Hovanec of Cedar Falls, IO, Jim Hovanec (his fiancAC.' Lisa Kusner) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; four great grandchildren, Kylie, Emma, Jacob and Luke Hovanec and several nieces and nephews.. Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by four brothers, Mike, Steve, Edward and Bobby Hovanec and two sisters, Helen Poloski and Mary Peterson. His family requests any monetary donations be made in Frank's memory to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 915 Cornell St. Yo. OH 44502.
