Frank "Stitch" Kordupel, 68 BOARDMAN - There will be prayers at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Philip Rogers, for Frank "Stitch" Kordupel, 68 who passed away Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Frank was born June 13, 1946, in Coburg, Germany, son of Peter and Maria Kordupel. He graduated from East High School in 1964, Frank worked for Strouss Department Store, the B&O Railroad as a fireman and was a foreman at the Mahoning County Engineers for the past 39 years. Frank was a member at St. Charles Church in Boardman and was an avid sports enthusiast, who bowled and played softball and baseball for Belleria, Farmers Pride, Youngstown Curve Form and Carolina Catering. He loved golfing and at every opportunity played in many leagues and scrambles throughout the valley. In 1964, when dared by one of his friends, he ran and completed the Boston Marathon. Frank was a Life Banc donor. Besides his mother, Maria Kordupel of Youngstown, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Maureen Horvath, who he married Nov. 6, 1987, at St. Michael Church in Canfield; his twin daughters, Kelly and Michelle; and son Bryan, all at home. He took great joy in watching as his children excel in all the activities about which he was very passionate. Frank also leaves his brothers, Steve of Youngstown, Peter Jr. of Cortland, Michael of Youngstown, John (Carol) of Youngstown, Joseph (Judi); and nephew Joseph Kordupel of Boardman. Besides his father, Frank was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home.
