Frank Daniel
Vivo
Jun 3, 1920 — Jan 20, 2012
Frank Daniel Vivo, 91 MINERAL RIDGE - Frank Daniel Vivo, 91, formerly of East Boston Avenue, passed away quietly on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 9:45 a.m. at Briarfield at the Manor in Mineral Ridge of heart failure. Frank was a son of Steve and Stella Marie (Delvic) Vivo and was born on June 3, 1920. Frank was raised on the east side and attended East High School until entering the service. He was in the U.S. Army and served our country in World War 11 and the Korean War as a soldier and worked with the Army Tanks. Frank was married to the former Ellen Ruth Bisso on Oct. 23, 1941, and were the first couple on both of their families to celebrate a 50th Anniversary, yet alone their 60th Anniversary, since their parents. They were married at Saint Anne's Church in Youngstown and were members of Saint Dominic's Catholic Church. Frank was a member of VFW Post No. 93, Charles Marino Post No. 3 of the Italian American War Veterans Club, The New Middletown Farmers and Sportsman Club and the Royal Seniors, where he was a Trustee. Frank was also one of the favorite cooks at many spaghetti dinners, especially at Sacred Heart Church's Annual Palm Sunday Dinner with his brother, Steve, where he was also a "caller" at their weekly Tuesday Bingo Nights. Frank and his wife Ellen planned many yearly bus trips to The University of Norte Dame vs. who ever they could get football tickets to and looked forward to the bomb fire pep rally on Friday nights. Even when they didn't have tickets, they had a bus load. Frank was a homemade wine maker and when on Boston Avenue and the kids were still young at home and stomping on the grapes, their treat was a huge block party, where all neighbors were invited for the annual weenie roast, where they hosted different games for all the kids in their and the Keller's and Makara's back yards and the evening ended with burning of the grape boxes. If there was a party on Boston Avenue, you just had to find the Vivo household. Frank and Ellen were the proud parents of six wonderful children, whom they were very proud of each one of them. They include Stella Marie (Bill) Betsa of Austintown, Mary Ellen (Terry) Lang of Austintown, Carmel Brinson of Hardeeville, S.C., Frank (Marsha) Vivo of Cortland, John Vivo of Youngstown and James Vivo of Cleveland. Also, he leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a fifth generation great-great-grand son, born Aug. 22, 2011. Two grandchildren are deceased. Frank Also leaves behind two sons as he loved as his own, Sterling Anderson and Mark Hanson. Frank as well with his wife, Ellen, were the last surviving children of their parents. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve, Anthony and Louis and his sisters, Agnes Sauline, Catherine Micheline, and Nancy Hayes. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fox Funeral 4700 Market St., Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Dominic's Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. Gregory Maturi and a Military Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Frank's name can be given to the family or to the Fox Funeral.
