Obituary

Frank J. Wiederman,87 Struthers-Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Bernard Gaeta at 10 a.m. at Saint Nicholas Church, Struthers for Frank Joseph Wiederman, 87, who died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Frank was born March 3, 1923, in Youngstown, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Gross) Wiederman. Frank was a graduate of Wilson High School in 1941. He was a veteran of WWII having served 3 years in the Navy achieving the rank of Motor Machinist's mate, second class aboard the sub chaser 1002. He learned the trade of brick laying under the tutelage of his father and went on to become a Life Member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, #8 Union. Frank was also a Life Member of the American Legion, belonged to the NRA, was an avid gardener and enjoyed working jig saw puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie (Del Colle) of 40 years, whom he married Sept. 17, 1970; his daughters Mary (Harry) Slaven, Monica (Tom) Wright, Janice Wiederman; and his sons James (Diane) Deckant and Frank (Tricia) Wiederman; 13 grandchildren; Harry Slaven, Jeff Wright, Tommy Wright, Aimee Cara Liebert, Patrick Slaven, Brian Cora, Shannon Wright Short, Chris Cora,, Kimberly Deckant, Neal Dekant, Adam Wiederman, Alan Wiederman, Kate Drummond and 13 great-grandchildren Caelan and Carly Slaven, Oliver And Elise Wright, Jay and Ali Slaven, Maddie & Jake Liebert, Abby, Elizabeth & Jack Short, Logan Blanford, Katherine Wiederman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years, Elizabeth (Morris); his brothers Joseph and Anthony; and sisters Barbara (Arthur) Pontuti, Elizabeth (Andy) Kaloz, Kathryn (Lou) Gaal, and Ann (Jack) Kraysets. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
