George S. Adams, 83 POLAND - George S. Adams, 83, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2015, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at home. Mr. Adams was born on Nov. 27, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of Soter and Julia Pabis Adams. Raised in Youngstown, George graduated from the Rayen High School, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. Mr. Adams was employed by the State of Ohio Department of Taxation as the district administrator for 27 years, retiring in 1999. Mr. Adams was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1954. George was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown, where he enjoyed fund raising year after year for the parish, and was their highest earning parishioner. George was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and traveling with them. Everyone that met and knew George said he was a "true gentleman." He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Zorka Adams, whom he married on Sept. 10, 1952; a son, George S. Adams II of Poland; and a daughter, Georgette Adams of Hilliard. George is also survived by two sisters, Joann Kern of Austintown and Georgia Morris of Girard; and nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all for his kind heart and warm spirit. George was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. At the request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Fox Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be given in Mr. Adams name to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, OH 44503.
