Youngstown formally of Kailua Hawaii - George Arthur Blunt, 81. Prayers will be 9:15 A.M. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Terrence Hazel at 10 A.M. At St. Michael Church Canfield for George A. Blunt who passed away March 27. George was born Nov 20, 1928 in Youngstown a son of Vernon & Mary Angel Blunt. He was a 1946 graduate of South High School, and received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Youngstown College George was a lead engineer at Pearl Harbor working on the submarine fleet for nineteen years, he then moved to Norfolk, Va, where he worked as a lead engineer at the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard working on the Aircraft carriers stationed there. He was a member of St. Michael Church and attended daily mass there... George was a member of American Legion Post 15 and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing with his brothers and nephews, playing tournament bridge with his wife in Hawaii, he visited friends and fellow workers in Hawaii every year, and he never forgot anyone's birthday. George's favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He served his country in the Navy being stationed at the Submarine Base in New London, Conn. His wife the former Nannette Robbins, whom he married Dec 18, 1948, died June 16, 1997. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Mary Christine (Louis) Gianoly of Atascadero, Calif, Debra Gayle (Conrad) Gomez of Cerritos, Calif two sons Dr. G. Brian (Gail) Blunt of Mt. Pleasant, Mich and Donald V. Blunt of Kailua, Hawaii, two brothers Vernon (Lucille ) Blunt of Canfield and W Greg ( Judy ) Blunt of Poland a sister Bess Ann Continenza of Boardman, Fifteen grandchildren Nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Beside his wife he is preceded in death by a brother Harry a sister Mary Caroline Melone . Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman Ohio, 44512.
