George C. Lyda, 74 POLAND - Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church for George C. Lyda, 74, who passed away Monday morning. George was born April 24, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of John and Catherine Maxgay Lyda. He was a Springfield Local and Youngstown State University graduate and was Vice-President for Northeastern Mowing Service. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. George was a lifelong member of St. Charles Church, its Men's Club, Stewardship Committee and Knights of Columbus, Rev. Daniel Venglarik Council No. 11915. He also was active in the Christ Renews His Parish and Joy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Kathleen M. Estok, whom he married April 23, 1966; two sons, George J. (Linda) Lyda and Jeffrey T. (Becky) Lyda; a daughter, Deborah (Dan) Simon; three sisters, Cecilia Day, Valeria Demidovich and Genevieve Glista; three grandchildren, Katherine Simon, Luke Lyda and Grant Lyda.. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, James Lyda; three brothers, Ted, Edward and Frank Lyda; and a sister, Sophie Siembieda. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
