BOARDMAN-George E. Maag, 86 There were private funeral services held for George E. Maag who passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. George was born on October 24, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of George and Nell Ryan Maag and was a lifelong area resident. He attended South High School and was a veteran who served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. George worked for 35 years in the maintenance department at U.S. Steel until they closed their doors in 1980. He then worked at Tip Tool in Canfield for 20 years when he retired. George was a member of St. Dominic parish, he liked going to Mountaineer, playing bingo and enjoyed traveling with his sisters-in-law. George is lovingly remembered by his wife the former Ruby Irene VanDyke of Boardman whom he married on September 13, 1952 after celebrating 60 years of marriage. He will be missed by his daughter, Barbara A. Magg of Boardman; a son Philip (Sara) Maag of Cathedral City, CA; two grandchildren Amanda and P.J. Maag. Besides his parents, George was also preceded in death by his brother Jack Igo.
