Obituary

Howard C. Theis, 89 BOARDMAN- Howard C. Theis, 89, passed away Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Howard was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Youngstown, a son of Fred and Katherine Welther Theis, and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of South High School with the Class of 1944. He worked as a self-employed carpenter, a watch maker for Kings Jewelry, and owner of various local businesses, Boardman Lanes and Hurricane Cocktail Lounge. Howard was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Carpenter's Local 171, the St. Christine senior citizen group and the Saxon Club. His wife, Mary Jo Selecky, whom he married Aug. 25, 1951, died on Oct. 28, 2011. He will be greatly missed by his son, Dr. Dale R. Theis, and two granddaughters, Rachel Elise Theis and Brooke Elizabeth Theis, all of Columbus. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers, William Theis of Florida, and Ronald P. Theis of Boardman; two sisters, Eleanor Hitter and Donna Dorn, both of Austintown; a brother-in-law, John A. Selecky of Canfield; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and his parents, Howard was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark H. Theis; three brothers, Fred, Bob and Ed Theis; and a sister, Sophia Estok. Per Howard's request, there will be no services. Loved by all his family, they are thankful to all who loved Howard and helped with his care.
