Obituary

BOARDMAN- Irene Prystash, 84 Mrs. Irene "Rene" Prystash,born on January 7, 1928, left this world on Thursday May 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunrise Assisted Living where she lived for six weeks after leaving Hospice. She looked forward to the day she would once again be with the love of her life, her late husband John S. "JJ" Prystash who passed away December 31, 1996. Irene graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1946. She spent her life as a loving wife, an incredible homemaker who loved to cook and bake, and a wonderful mother. In later years she found being a grandmother was her greatest joy. She always enjoyed life to the fullest, and was very outgoing with a kind , warm personality. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for 21 years and an avid member of St. Luke Church. Belonging to the Ladies Auxiliary and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed baking pizzas, making kolachi, going on bus trips to casinos and enjoyed playing Bocce with the church group. She leaves her daughter Shirley (Roy) Bennett of Poland; a son John (Mary) Prystash of Boardman; three grandchildren, Scott Bennett of Canfield, John Prystash of Columbus, Pamela Prystash of Atlanta, GA and one great-grandson Tyler. Rene was the daughter of Stephen and Theresa Horney and had eight siblings, John,Joseph, Stephen and George Horney, Anna Woods, Helen Hrushovsky, Ruth Lischak and Clara Gallas, all but George and Clara are deceased. There will be calling hours at the Fox Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. On Saturday a brief prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of life mass at St. Luke at 9:30 a.m.. She will be buried at Calvary Cemetery next to her husband John. Irene's family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512, where she found comfort in their kindness and care. A very special thank you to every person at Sunrise for their incredible care , compassion, gentleness and kindness not only for their mother but her entire family.
