Obituary

POLAND-Jacquita Grimes Walker There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home for Jacquita Grimes Walker who passed away Thursday morning at Hospice House. She has born April 11, 1943 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Lt. Col. LJ Grimes and Elva Grimes. "Jackie" (aka "Quita") moved around the world while her father fulfilled his call to serve his country. Living in places like Okinawa, Germany and various places around the US, she gained great respect for people of various cultures. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in the mid 50's when her father was stationed at Ft. Hayes. She graduated from North High School and immediately went to Pharmacy school at Ohio State University. Jacquita worked as a pharmacist at Grant Medical Center in Columbus for 30 years. She married Jim Walker in 1965 and they went on to have 2 daughters, Deanna Lynn Walker and Deborah Ann (married to Brad Barnett). Jackie is survived by her two daughters, as well as her three grandchildren, Maxwell Henry Barnett, Mia Lauren Barnett, and Emma Katelyn Barnett who live in Chicago with their parents. Additionally, Jackie's mother and sister, Elva Grimes and Beverly Jeanne Grimes live in Norman, Oklahoma. Jackie is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. LJ Grimes, on May 4, 2010. Friends may call an hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
