James Stephen Honen, 72 BOARDMAN - Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Timothy H. O'Neil at 11 a.m. at Saint Christine Church, for James Stephen Honen, 72, who passed away Friday at his residence. James was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of C.J. and Clarice Girard Honen. He attended Saint Patrick School in Youngstown and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1955, he also was a Youngstown State University graduate. He was an Air Force veteran serving from July of 1960 to July 6, 1966. James was a salesman working in the heavy machine industry, he worked for McKay Machine Company for many years and then retired from Mannesmamm Demag. He was a member of Saint Christine Church, Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand, he enjoyed getting involved in many church and school functions. He also was a Cub Scout leader for several years with all three of his boys. He was an avid golfer and really enjoyed going to the casinos. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Patricia Altier, whom he married June 17, 1961; a daughter, Laurie A. (Rick) O'Connor of Poland; and three sons, Stephen P. (fiance' Stacy Kelly) Honen of Boardman, James T. (Tom Vignapiano) Honen of Oakland, Calif., and Brian R. (Marla Carano) Honen of Poland; two sisters, Patricia Broderick of Boardman and Kathleen (Gerald) Kovachik of Texas; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Kathryn, Megan Honen, Jacqueline and Sean O'Connor. He also is survived by two sister-in-law, Ann (Clarence) Machado of California and Lynn (Joseph) Murphy of Oregon. Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Laurence Broderick. The family has asked the material tributes be given to Saint Christine Building Fund, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511 or AARN Alzheimer's Assistance and Referral Network, 4214 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
