James E. Kearns, 78 YOUNGSTOWN- Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28 at Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., for James E. Kearns, who passed away Saturday, May 24 at the Hospice House. James was born July 31, 1929 in Huntington, WV, the son of Emza and Buena Faulks Kearns. He attended Marshall University and graduated from North Carolina State with a degree in civil engineering. He was employed at U.S. Steel for 32 years and completed his working career at Hynes Industries. James served two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was a devoted member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church Choir for many years. Besides his wife of 54 years, the former Nancy V. McKinney, he leaves a son, James L. (Holly Martin) Kearns of Youngstown and a daughter, Kimberly A. Kearns of Cleveland; two grandsons, James M. (Heather) Kearns of Houston and Liam Tolland of Cleveland; a granddaughter, Jessica L. Kearns of Youngstown. He also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Skylar Rose of Houston; many nieces and nephews and was comforted by the special devotion of his niece, Ginny Infante of Boardman. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Dickerson and Louise Cyrus. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in church.
