Jane Irene Krehl Barrett Schmies, 93, passed away on October 28, 2016, at Hospice House. She was born June 7, 1923, to Ida Belle Vaughn and Benjamin Wilson Krehl and grew up in Girard. She recently moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland but lived for 11 years prior to that at The Inn at Glenellen. She had many friends there. Jane is survived by five children: Jane (Tom) Masters of Boardman, Kathleen (James) Hymel of Louisiana, Judith (Pat) Berarducci of Medina, Thomas (Barb) Barrett of Washington, and David (Peg Hassey) Barrett from Hubbard. She had eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Jane had three step children: Susan (Paul) Coleman of Colorado, Ken (Carolyn) Schmies of Texas, Karyn (Dave) Carosella of Boardman. Ten step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren. While she loved a challenging card game, bowling, puzzles and a good book, her favorite times were when all her children were together. We made that happen her last few birthdays; she would clap her hands in joy. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Edward Charles Krehl, her husbands Thomas J. Barrett and Robert Schmies as well as two grandchildren Davey Barrett and Justin Berarducci. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
