A Memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Gerald Delucia for Jean M. Kenney, 89, who passed away Wednesday morning August 30, at her residence in Boardman.
Jean was born October 7, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of Edward and Mary McCarthy Vahey.
She graduated from The Rayen School in 1945, and was a lifelong area resident.
Jean Married her Husband James T. Kenney on September 6, 1947at St. Edward Church, he passed away on April 3, 1988 after 40 years of marriage.
She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Charles Church, she belonged to several clubs including the garden club, ladies guild, navy mothers and she was a eucharistic minister at St. Charles Church.
Jean worked at the soup kitchen and community meals on wheels. She also enjoyed volunteering at local hospitals.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Jeff (Sally) Kenney of Florence, SC.; Maureen (Todd) Reutzel of Austintown; Kathy (Bob) Sirak of Dublin, Oh.; Marty Kenney of Sarasota, Fla.; Laurie (Drew) Saunders of Tamarac, Fla; Kelley (Jim) Ress of Boardman; Jamie (Jon) Espelage of Orlando, Fla., and Erin (Jim) Petro of Canfield. Her daughter-in-law Kathy Kenney of Rochester, NY. and her brother Ray Vahey of Milwaukee WI.
Jean's life was blessed with a bountiful amount of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and her parents Jean was preceded in death by her son Pat Kenney, who passed away on August 12, 2015. she was also preceded by her brother Edward Vahey and her sister Rene (Jack) Eisenbraun and her nephew Larry Eisenbraun.
Jean's family request that material tributes in her name be given to All Caring Hospice 6715 Tippecanoe Rd. Bldg. B. suite 101 Canfield, Oh. 44406.
Calling hours for Jean will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman, Oh. 44512.
